While some students prepare in advance for this exam along with their +2 examinations, some prefer to take a year gap to prepare for JEE Mains. Of course, with high cut-throat competition, a student can only get admission to leading IITs and NITs, if he/she has prepared well for the exam.
What are the right steps to follow for JEE Mains? How to gain a cutting edge over others? What exactly a student should focus on while preparing for the exam? How and when the examination is conducted? These are few questions that flood the minds of students while preparing for the JEE Mains examination.

Reaching to the JEE Mains

The pathway to reach the JEE Mains is not that easy. Conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) replaces the earlier AIEEE and IIT-JEE examinations. The students who have passed or appearing for the +2 examinations need to primarily qualify the JEE Mains examination.

Key tips to remember

The aspirants need to fasten up their speed for the Mains preparation as less time is left for them to prepare for the exam. Here are few important tips for all JEE Mains aspirants to follow which can lead them to pathway of success:

Know the syllabus

With a vast ocean of topics to cover for +2 examinations, the syllabus for JEE Mains is far more inclusive. Thus, it is important for students to stick to the syllabus before they head start their preparations. The three major subjects covered in this examination include Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Study as per the time-table

To give equal importance to every subject, students need to plan their studies as per the time-table prepared. This indeed, requires them to manage their study time efficiently. Also, do not forget to include short and relaxing breaks in between to allow the mind absorb whatever have been covered.

Hold a grip on the basics

Before heading on to the major topics of the syllabus, the students need to acquire a strong command over the basic concepts. Of course, if the base remains unsettled, the chances of building to fall are higher.

Work on the weaker areas

The topics that create stress in the minds of students also need separate attention so as to ensure improvement. It is, therefore, advisable to select a suitable time after break to prepare the lesser-known topics.

Prepare notes

Notes and flash cards can also turn out to be a great help for the students to revise. Of course, you cannot think of going through the entire book again for revision sake. By simply jotting down the important concepts, formulas and theories, the students can remember or recall them, even if they are not sitting with a mind-set to study.

Solve mock tests and sample papers

Lastly, to assess the actual status of what has been prepared, the students should also attempt solving mock tests and sample papers on a daily basis. By doing so, they will not only be able to capture their exact preparation status, but also work on efficient time management.
